Social Impact Project for Industrial Design Fellowship

Project Description and Impact

We are looking for someone with industrial design/engineering experience in the footwear industry, specifically in the leather footwear industry. As we are a small but growing company with diverse backgrounds, we are hoping to get an expert in shoes to improve our shoe construction, from the last creation to the process of building out our leather shoes. As all production is based in Guatemala, it would be advisable if the Experteer had a working knowledge of Spanish. You will be working with craftsmen whose families have been making shoes for generations, along with our shoe-last supplier in Guatemala.

This is an incredible opportunity to improve the construction of a product for a social business in beautiful Antigua, Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by volcanoes and amazing coffee!

As a for-profit social startup, we are setting out to change the way development can take place by promoting a living well line for our craftsmen, a direct 'Cobbler-to-Customer' logistics strategy, and a company transparent with its cost breakdown. Working with us will be an incredible experience to make a difference in product development and working first hand with Guatemalan cobblers.
