Social Impact Project for Finance Experteer to Advice Farm to Feed to Become Investment Ready
Project Description and Impact
Farm to Feed is a social enterprise located in Kenya with the dual missions of increasing food affordability and decreasing impact on the environment through rescuing produce that would otherwise be left to rot. 50% of fruits and vegetables in sub-saharan Africa never make it to a consumer. This is devastating given that 32% of Kenyans are food insecure and food loss and waste account for 10% of greenhouse gases. Farm to Feed has created a market for imperfect and surplus fruits and vegetables in Kenya and provides the logistics to connect the supply to the demand. Farm to Feed has a proven operating model and strong track record of growth. We began as an emergency-relief charity in April 2020 and have been operating 6 days a week since then. At the start of 2021 we transitioned into a for-profit social enterprise and grew our commercial business 2-3x every quarter of 2021. In order to meet our aspirations for scale and impact we will need to secure outside capital in 2022.
Our team currently does not have a specialist onboard around investments and talking to investors. This would really be something that can boost our confidence in our proposition and bring us to a success for the future.
Farm to Feed is looking for short term support from a mid to senior-level expert with experience supporting start-ups to become investment-ready from a financial and investor perspective.
