Social Impact Project for Fundraising Experteer to Support Grant Giving
Project Description and Impact
We run a clothes shop for refugees and Lebanese where everything is for free. We are led by local staff (five Syrian refugees), and have close ties with our local community. We work towards the prevention of poverty, through providing clothes, shoes, bedding, underwear, socks and accessories to vulnerable families who need to spend their income on the basics: medicines, rent and food.
We employ locally, and shop at various local stores and warehouses: providing jobs and injecting money into the Lebanese economy. We operate in Bar Elias, a village 16km from the Syrian border in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. We also provide individual assistance when required in the form of asset grants. This may include material for shelter, a food pack, or an appliance such as an oven or fridge etc. (we do not provide cash grants).
In the future, we wish to have more "pop-up" activities, where we can provide vital NFI in remote locations across the country. We also run sustainable period pad distributions and information sessions, for thousands of girls and women in the Bekaa (Syrian and Lebanese).
