Social Impact Project for Research Experteer to Support BEMPU’s ApneBoot Innovation

Project Description and Impact

The BEMPU ApneBoot is a first-of-its-kind apnea detection and auto-resolution system. ApneBoot uses pulse oximetry to monitor the newborn in case vitals drop below certain thresholds correlating with an apnea. If that happens, the device has a probe bound to the sole of the baby’s foot which vibrates immediately. The vibration against the foot nerves can help to restart breathing, in the same way that clinicians may flick the foot sole in case of central apnea. More information is available in the video below or at www.bempu.com.

BEMPU ApneBoot has published clinical evidence on the efficacy of the device. BEMPU is seeking experienced research institutions to do additional independent studies on ApneBoot to evaluate its clinical impact in premature babies. We have a bias towards studies which can be approved, executed and submitted for publication by July 2022.

To be considered, please submit the short application below by 15/12/2021. If we determine you are eligible for this project, we will follow up requesting additional information on your study proposal.

Applications can be submitted at bempu.com/researchers
